Update to Winter Planting

In our last post, we had planted one thousand, twenty-four rose seeds in our seed trays. Our order for new seed trays was delivered and we got to planting our seeds again. We were hoping to sow one thousand, three hundred seeds this year. That would allow us to gather one hundred four successful plants at a success rate of 8%. That was the best case scenario.]

We excited to announce that we were able to plant one thousand, seven hundred seventy seeds this year. This was 36.15% greater than we had anticipated. Obviously, this would raise the level of viable plants we would be able to secure this year. However, to tamp down our excitement, we are still going to be aiming for twenty-six successful plants this year.

A bit messy in the greenhouse, but the plants are in!

Lastly, we are happy to announce that we have some sprouts!!! We only had two come up, but we are doing our best to protect these little seedlings. It is currently freezing in Battle Ground (27 F, but wind chill is making it feel like 15F), so we had to crank up the heater in the greenhouse.

Two little rose sprouts!!!

Excited to finally have succeeded in this. Last year we planted many seeds and had zero sprouts. We will keep you posted as more sprouts come up!
